Perspectives - Word definitions

Postmodern: A term applied to a wide range of subjects including art, architecture, literature, culture and fiction.  It is a reaction or response to the explanation of reality and the truth. 

High modernism: A form of modernity consisting of skeptical confidence in science and technology, to stabilize and reorder society.

Capitalist: A wealthy person who makes profit through investing in trade and industry with their wealth. 

Superabundance: An extremely higher amount of something than is necessary.

Disconnected: An individual being distant to reality or emotionally closed off from the real world that surrounds them.

Pop: Highly popular and liked among large quantities of society.

Fragmentary: Something broken up into multiple parts that have been disconnected.

Eclectic: Collecting ideas, taste or style from a diverse mixture of sources.

Nostalgia: Sentimental or familiar feeling of happiness towards a memory or period from the past.

Simulacra: An image or representation of someone or something, including statues and paintings.

Superficiality: A lack of acknowledgement or consideration.

Flippant: Disrespectful or careless attitude.

Depthless: Shallowness or ignorance. 

Fabulation: A term for literary criticism, used to describe novels that depart from the traditional route of realism, while violating real life expectations and limitations.

Pastiche: An imitation of another artist, work, or period through artistic work.

Bricolage: Something that has been constructed or created through a wide and diverse range of sources or materials.

Aleatory: A piece made up of multiple choices, picked at random instead of specifically.
