Hey Frankie - so I think you've got your story - it's script-centric - or rather dialogue-centric, which actually means it is characterisation-centric - so the character of the 'sergeant' needs to be thought about carefully and likewise the 'runt' character. There are a number of military stereotypes and tropes available to you and you're going to need to embody them - and I think too, on top of your story, you're going to need a specific era, which will help you design everything else. It does seem logical, what with your airborne pollen, that looking at the classic RAF Pilot stereotypes of WW2 might give you some fun - and some clear direction in terms of your dialogue and characterisation:

You might want to think about this idea too - the command room - as a means of showing the pollination plan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bsx8dOqNRYY

It does feel that maybe going for an 'Old War Film' vibe - music, scratchy, tinny voices, and looking at the conventions of how war films of the late 1930s/40s filmed the flying sequences etc might help you start thinking about your whole approach to telling your story engagingly?

I suggest you do lots of research and watching of the films produced by British Pathe - they'll give you an immediate feel for this kind of era and its various tropes and conventions:

Just in terms of your character design - I do think you need to go even simpler/stronger - more 'Mr Potato Head' if you know what I mean...

(maybe the flying hats / googles we associate with RAF pilots etc can help you identify a 'uniform' for your pollen grains - and simpler/stronger shape/approach?)
