@Alan Minor - Binding and Weight Grouping the Mesh (Alien)

I have now skinned the joints to the mesh, and grouped the weights in preparation for more painting weights in the more specific areas of the body. This seemed to go well and I haven't encountered any massive issues here, however I have noticed that I cannot rotate the pelvis joint independently as both the leg joints, and lumber joint is parented to it, so the entire skeleton moves instead of just the pelvis. Because of this, I've found that there's a rather large area that cannot bend by itself so far, the bottom image demonstrates this. Because of this, I'm unsure if it's best to unparent the lumbar from the pelvis for the time being, as the lower and upper skeleton are then divided into two parts and disconnected.
