Perspectives - Postmodernism in Kill Bill Vol. 1

Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 tells a blood filled story of revenge staring Uma Thurman , who plays the role of the bride who's family get slaughtered by the skilled Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Despite receiving some criticism that the film is about nothing but blood and violence, the film contains multiple elements that make it Postmodern, and Tarantino seems to have made it to reminisce over films from his youth and create something enjoyable, that also meant something to him. One way in which the film is postmodern, is Tarantino's eclectic approach to making the film. He brings together a combination of different genres, including Action, Western and Kung Fu Cinema. In some scenes he uses a black and white filter, leaning towards classic horror films, which then changes to colour in following scenes. Premise - Rough Character Design

I have created another design for my alien character, while looking back at all my previous thumbnails throughout the project. I have revisited some of my very first ideas for this character, considering alien hair and a more simple style. I have also considered the outfit, looking at more retro Sci-Fi and trying to design the outfit as slightly more loose fitting as opposed to skin-tight. I tried sketching out a variety of different lengths/widths/shapes and considered previous aspects of some thumbnails, in order to help myself see what I thought looked good or not so good, in order to visualize what I thought looks more appealing.

The Premise After a plastic surgeon loses his confidence and boards a cruise ship to get away from it all, it takes an unexpected and unlikely friend to help bring back the spark he needs. The Logline Gerald Harrington is a plastic surgeon whose composure is blown when he makes a mistake on one of his patients, causing him to flee from his city on a cruise ship to diminish his guilty conscience. When he finds a troubled and lost jelly fish at sea, he uses all that he knows along with the light bulb in his room to help it out.

Film Review: The Hero's Journey in Spider-Man (2002)

The famous pattern of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey makes its presence throughout Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man . Peter Parker (Toby Maguire) is the hero throughout this movie, who has to balance life affecting complications when he decides to keep his true identity separate from his actual superhero life. The Hero’s Journey of course starts with the Ordinary World , which is what we are introduced to as Spider-Man kicks off. Peter Parker at this point in the story, is one of the most unexpected individuals to be considered a hero. He’s just a student trying to live his life in New York, while often missing his school bus or being pushed around by domineering bullies around him. This is Peter Parker’s ordinary world, he has a crush on the girl he knows he will probably never get, he is a young and sophisticated photographer just trying to survive each day as it comes. Major - Reflective Statement

To begin, this project has definitely been an experience that I will not forget. I could go on to say that the Major project has been the most challenging one that I’ve done, but I feel like the Minor project was the one in which I felt the most incapable and doubtful about in terms of what I could achieve. By the time I finished Minor, I felt so much more confident and capable, as that was perhaps the project that I learned the most on. Because of this, I was able to go into Major with a much more positive head space. However, the Major project has required the most work and time than any other project by far. In terms of my actual knowledge, I felt less in the dark here than I did in Minor, but from the start of this project I knew that I had to invest all of my time and effort into making this film, which I have tried my best to do. Film Review: The Shining

Stanley Kubrick's 1980 Horror masterpiece The Shining , is an onscreen nightmare that has rightfully left its mark on the Horror genre, even to this day. Jack Nicholson plays the on edge father Jack Torrance, who takes up the role of the caretaker at the Overlook Hotel, living there with his wife Wendy ( Shelley Duvall ) and son Danny ( Danny Lloyd ) inside of the large and isolating hotel for a number of months. Jack's insanity and violence builds up, and can be easily noticed through his appearance and language, while the blunt text on screen reading "a month later" or "Tuesday" is shown, so blunt that it's strangely creepy.
